A Complete Range of Services

The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center FAIRWAY TO LIFE Breast Care Center offers a complete range of screening, diagnostic and treatment services including:

  • A complete range of imaging modalities such as all digital mammography, ultrasonography, breast MRI, CT Scan and PET CT imaging as well as diagnostic interventional radiology including stereotactic and ultrasound guided core needle biopsies, MRI guided biopsy and fine needle aspiration.
  • Expert breast pathology for timely diagnosis, including same day diagnosis for fine needle aspiration and diagnosis within 48 hours for core needle biopsies.
  • Minimally invasive breast surgery and breast conservation surgery including lumpectomy, needle localization biopsy, lymphatic mapping, sentinel lymph node biopsy and Mammosite® placement for partial breast radiation.
  • Oncoplastic surgery including skin sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using muscle flaps (TRAM, Latissimus Dorsi), microsurgery and breast implants.
  • Systemic therapy including a wide array of both standard and clinical trial options available with chemotherapy, hormonal/endocrine therapy and targeted therapy such as Herceptin for early and advanced stages of breast cancer.
  • Experts in radiation oncology providing access to standard whole breast radiation using external beam radiotherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and novel therapies for partial breast radiation, including Mammosite® , through national cooperative clinical trials.
  • Genetic counseling and testing for high risk patients with a family history of breast and ovarian cancer.
  • Supportive staff including highly specialized breast cancer nurse coordinators, cancer patient navigator, social workers, nutritional counselor, physical therapist (lymphedema care), and psychological services.
